Map your real life experiences in Project Management

Hello Guys!

I am back with a new Research and Experience.
Today i am going to share something really informative and Quality thing with you.

As a Project Manager, i am managing so many projects in my company, and Thanks to Allah Almighty all are in shape. Recently i got a new project which was actually a revamp as the Design, HTML and Development has already done, but customer needs us to move it to Framework (Code Igniter).

So i was having two things in hands;

  • Design
  • HTML

and i have to get the development done. So as always, i created a Project Plan for this Project. Get the team for this Project, Unfortunately this project was having very very tight dateline, and i was having very limited resources for this project as well. So i started the Project with that Tight Dateline and Limited Resources.

We completed the Phase I (Admin End) of Development successfully. We were before our decided timeline. Now we were moving towards (Client End).

Initially it was looking very smooth that, we will easily meet the dateline for Client End as well. But when i saw the HTML, it was PATHETIC. There was no Quality in it, so many repetition, unwanted code and so many other issues were there and it was so looking so difficult to meet the dateline if we will continue with that HTML.

Even Still i took the risk and get my guys working on it as it was my first experience in this kind of project and i was more than willing to learn some new things. So i showed a green signal to my team.

So as i was expecting, when the next morning i get back myself to Office, i found Developer; was sitting idle and enjoying Music... :p It was a pleasant moment to see her in that mood... But suddenly i got a Splash... HOW's MY PROJECT....????

I got to that Developer and asked, "Hey... How's my Project?", she calmly removed headfones from her ears and replied, "I am waiting for HTML, Muazzam"... "Isnt it completed Yet?", i asked. "No ;-) ", she winked!

Oh God if it will be like that then i will surly miss the dateline.

The HTML guy just got in and i asked, "How's my Project?". He said, "The HTML is too much buggy, i need more time to fix it, so i can only give you one page right now" ... "CRAP" ... "16 Hrs and only one page" ... i shouted.

I was so frustrated, because it was clear that i will miss the dateline like that.... :-(

I left my desk by turning off my LCD.

I was walking across roadside, suddenly i passed through a Burger shop. There were lots of people there eating their meals and some of them were waiting for their meals... I was so frustrated.

There were three men on the counter, one was chopping the burger and frying the eggs and passing them to third guy, 2nd guy was chopping the vegetables and apply sauces to them and passing to third guy as well and then finally 3rd guy was merging the hard work of 1st and 2nd and generating the final output. So it was like that

(1st) > (3rd) < (2nd)

Suddenly i got an idea.... TRINGGGGG!!!!! (!)

14 Ways to Be the World's Worst Web Project Manager

There are a great number of ways to manage website projects, but regardless of your management style, there are behaviours that you should learn to avoid as much as possible. Steering clear of these pitfalls will not only allow you to get through projects on time and on budget, but will leave a very good impression on your clients, and win you more work in the future. Let Interruptions Dictate Your Schedule Too often we allow ourselves to be distracted from what we need to be focusing on right now. Mostly it's unnecessary to jump on every new e-mail immediately; issues can usually wait until we're done with the current task. As a project manager, you'll most likely be in charge of multiple projects and employees at the same time. It's important to have a system that allows you to have a lot on your plate and still be on top of things. This could include creating a priority list when you check your e-mail/voicemail messages, or when you're available for meetings. T...

Map your real life experiences in Project Management II (Burger Model)

Hey i am Back... Lets continue from previous... First Short summary for readers --- I am a Project Manager, recently got problem in one of the project regarding tough Dependencies, so i designed a development model for web projects --- So i got the pen and draw something like that Here it is... the new web development model "Burger Model", i named it burger model , because i designed it after observing those burger guys... thanks to them. Explanation This Web development model is to remove / overcome the dependencies from the projects which has very tight dateline, limited resources and simultaneous working approach of HTML and Development. In this Model, We introduced an entity who is actually dependent on HTML and Development, but those HTML and Development are not dependent on each other, so HTML start producing HTML without having in mind that i have to give it to developer as he / she is waiting for me. And start putting those HTML pages int...
